Push factors:

As Tokyo is the biggest city in the world, there are a lot of people living there and some may find it over crowded and dislike the large crowds. As Tokyo is so populated, there isn’t much space, and living spaces tend to get a bit squashy. There aren’t many houses and most people live in apartments. The apartments are very small and most barely have any space in them. In Tokyo, a lot of beds turn into dining tables, due to there not being enough space for an extra room. There isn’t much space in Tokyo for things like parks or public sports places, so many sports such as soccer, are played on the rooftops of tall buildings. There is even a simulated golf driving range on the rooftop of a skyscraper. Some people won’t live in Tokyo as they can’t stand its humid climate.

Pull factors

Many Japanese people move to Tokyo as it has lots of jobs available. Tokyo is Japan’s leading industrial centre and has the world’s third largest economy. Tokyo has an unemployment rate of 3.4%. These are both good indicators of getting a job in Tokyo. Tokyo is generally very clean for a megacity, one of the cleanest cities in Asia. Tokyo is also very technologically advanced city in the world.
